Dark side of becoming an entrepreneur

Posted by Namit Behl
Couple of weeks ago i wrote an article 5 Points Someone Learned As An Startup
Entrepreneur. But i feel i missed some points.
I know enough people who dreamed of starting a company, but they never took the first step. You need courage, and the mindset of an entrepreneur, to test the waters in the ocean of startups.

Dark Side Of Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is not for you if one of following is true for you.

  • Career growth means a greater-than-10% salary hike and a more impressive job title
  • Life settlement means owning a house, having a beautiful wife (or rich husband) and two smart kids
  • Startups are a hot topic during lunch and weekend parties only, but no one does anything to make them a reality.
  • You know how to make quick bucks by fooling people, and you think same can be applied to a startup
  • The value of one month of your life is less than one month of your salary, in your opinion
Do you remember the last time you took arisk -something like taking leave for two weeks for vacation without your boss’ approval? Entrepreneurship is about confronting brutal realities of life where you have to take the risk on daily basis.

  • You seek an expert’s help to move forward in an unfamiliar work situation, and are afraid of challenges.
  • You don’t try new things because statistics say that the probability of failure is 90%.
  • You dream of becoming Steve Jobs but compromise on your ideologies (often because your boss want things another way)
  • Last one – you know everything and you don’t like learning from juniors or peers. You only learn from CEOs because that’s what your primary goal of doing a startup.
Entrepreneurship is for brave hearts

  • You have to be mentally strong
  • You won’t raise money overnight
  • Your co-founders may leave you mid-way
  • Your potential investors may ditch you after promising funding.
  • Going near cashless becomes routine (be prepared for inconsistent income)
You know it’s not an easy journey. You have to bear a lot of pain. It is scary to leave your job and follow your passion. We hear success stories of startups, but no one tells us how many failures are buried under that success.

“Remember, with every failure you are adding layers to your mental strength.” – Richard Branson

Side effects of Entrepreneurship

  • Frustration
Frustration hits you like the monthly mobile bill. Every month we plan something great, but plans fail quite often. We can’t avoid the frustration of failure, but we can learn how to handle it.

  • Insecurity
You doubt your decisions many times. You won’t find anyone to help you out. This is a side effect of becoming your own boss. You can’t ask for directions all the time, even if you have mentors.

  • Self worth issues
You doubt yourself. After continuous failures, you start feeling like you aren’t worthy of anything. Persistence and perseverance are keys to tackling such a situation.

  • Addiction of work
This happens with almost every entrepreneur. Addiction to anything has an adverse effect on life. It’s even possible for someone to become addicted to smoking or alcohol after starting up, as they use it to alleviate stress.

  • Sleep disorders
Bad sleep habits take the front seat when you have to deliver a product in time. There is so much chaos, from customersand employees, to family, that you often mess up your sleep schedule. My own bad sleep patterns began to affect my productivity, so I started waking up at the same time everyday irrespective of my sleep time. My routine adjusted automatically to my sleep timings.

  • Family relationships suffer
Have you experienced this when you don’t give time to your girlfriend, wife or kids? Even when you sit with them, you talk about recent funding news, or your difficulties in hiring, or how tough your customer is. Give it a break! Spend some quality time with your family.

  • Bad food habits
A very likely situation for bachelor entrepreneurs. You won’t have time to cook food. You will subsist onready-to-eat junk food alone. You had better get on a fruit diet instead.

  • No social life
You won’t feel it because you are busy building your product or chasing your next customer, but your friends know how many parties you are missing.
I am not trying to scare you, but it is scary because I have experienced this in my startup life. If you still want to take a leap then go through below checklist before taking the final decision.

Checklist before leaving your job

  • Why quit? Is it because I hate my boss or work, I want to pursue my passion, or I want to become my own boss?
  • Can I work on my dream venture while doing full time job? How much time will it take to launch an MVP (Minimum Viable Product)?
  • What are my Plans A and B?What if both fail?Do I have plansC and D ?
  • How much do I spend monthly? Calculate your present expenses and future expenses.
  • How much do I need to support the family in future? Consider your obligations like marriage, your kid’s education and your promising your family a foreign vacation.
  • How long I can survive without a salary? If you think your venture will start paying you back in one year then save money for yourself for at least two years, because your plans will fail quite often.
Last question to ask yourself. If I quit my job, and follow my passion only to have it fail miserably after two or three years of dedicated work, how will I feel? If you feel terrified, then reconsider your decision.

How to Install Android M Preview on Your PC/Laptop/Computer (Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10)

Posted by Sabeer Nadir

How to Install Android M Preview on Your PC/Laptop/Computer (Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10):
Last week, Google surprised the world by announcing the Android M , new version of its famous operating system for mobile devices. In addition to presenting the features and software features, the company released a previous build so that those interested in testing the OS could install it already in line devices Nexus .

What you probably did not know is that there is a way to experience the Android M while not own a smartphone or tablet Nexus family. For this, use the download development kit (SDK) official Android, which has been updated so that programmers can develop applications for newly announced OS edition. In addition to being totally free, the SDK is compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

It is worth noting that, of course, the experience of testing the Android M on the computer is different to test it on a mobile device, as you are simply emulating the system on different hardware than that for which it was designed. Still, it is the fastest and safest way to kill your curiosity about the OS. Check out how to do it! So, In this Today Article We Will Show You How to Install Android M Preview on Your PC/Laptop/Computer (Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10)
How to Install Android M Preview on Your PC/Laptop/Computer (Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10)

→ First step: Installing the SDK:

First, click on this Link to download the Android SDK version compatible with the operating system of your desktop (Windows, Linux or Mac OS X). There are three different packages for Windows, and we recommend that you opt for the first one (android-studio-bundle-141.1903250-windows.exe).

Recommended for Windows Users: (android-studio-bundle-141.1903250-windows.exe).

Upon completion of the download, run the program and install it normally on your machine. When you open it for the first time, you must wait a few seconds until it lists all optional packages that can be downloaded. These packages include the programming tools and simulators for numerous versions of Android, and some essential files so that these emulators to run perfectly.

Since our goal is not to develop apps, but simply test the Android M, you only need to point out four packages to download: the “SDK Platform Android M Preview”, the “ARM EABI v7a System Image”, the “Intel x86 Atom_64 System Image “and” Intel Atom System Image “.

Select them, click the “Install 4 packages” button and in the window that opens, select the “Accept License” check box. Wait, because at this stage the SDK will download and install the selected packages, and this can take several minutes depending on the speed of your internet.

→ Second Step: Setting up the emulator:

At the end of installing the components, open Windows Explorer and go to the folder where the Android SDK was installed. Run the file named as “AVD Manager”. In the window that opens, click on “Create”. Now you need to register an emulator with the desired characteristics.

In “AVD Name”, baptize it with any name. “Device” you select your desired device for emulation (in this case, we chose the Nexus), while in “Target” you need to choose the “Android M (Preview)”. Check out the rest of the sample settings in the screenshot below (obs .: no spaces to name the emulator).

Ready! You will be redirected to the AVD Manager homepage. Select the newly created emulator, click “Start” and not change any value in the popup that opens. After a few minutes (the first run is always more time consuming), a window will open and you can enjoy all the features of the new Android M.

That's all guys, if you've any doubts regarding this post then comment them below and also Checkout how to Download Dubsmash for PC from here.

Next time when someone sends you a photo of a cute cat or a hot chick than be careful before you click on the image to view — it might hack your machine.

Yes, the normal looking images could hack your computers — thanks to a technique discovered by security researcher Saumil Shah from India.

Dubbed "Stegosploit," the technique lets hackers hide malicious code inside the pixels of an image, hiding a malware exploit in plain sight to infect target victims.
Just look at the image and you are HACKED!

Shah demonstrated the technique during a talk titled, "Stegosploit: Hacking With Pictures," he gave on Thursday at the Amsterdam hacking conference Hack In The Box.

According to Shah, "a good exploit is one that is delivered in style."

Keeping this in mind, Shah discovered a way to hide malicious code directly into an image, rather than hiding it in email attachments, PDFs or other type

s of files that are typically used to deliver and spread malicious exploits. -

To do so, Shah used Steganography — a technique of hiding messages and contents within a digital graphic image, making the messages impossible to spot with the naked eye.

Here's How to Hack digital pictures to send malicious exploits:

Until now Steganography is used to communicate secretly with each other by disguising a message in a way that anyone intercepting the communication will not realise it's true purpose.

Steganography is also being used by terrorist organisations to communicate securely with each other by sending messages to image and video files, due to which NSA officials are forced to watch Porn and much porn.

However in this case, instead of secret messages, the malicious code or exploit is encoded inside the image’s pixels, which is then decoded using an HTML 5 Canvas element that allows for dynamic, scriptable rendering of images.

The "Secret Sauce" behind Stegosploit — this is what Shah calls it.

The malicious code, dubbed IMAJS, is a combination of both image code as well as JavaScript hidden into a JPG or PNG image file. Shah hides the malicious code within the image’s pixels, and unless somebody zoom a lot into it, the image looks just fine from the outside.

The bottom line here is:

You should not presume the image files as "innocent" anymore, as they can hide malicious code deep inside its pixels that could infect your computers.

Therefore, always make sure before you click on one.
Shah has been working on the research [PDF] during his spare time for almost five years, but he has not tested his technique on popular image sharing websites like Dropbox or Imgur. He also admitted that his method might not work everywhere.

How to Detect a Fake Xiaomi (Mi) Power Bank

Posted by Namit Behl
Mi Logo

As you all know fake is becoming the new trend .Owing to its quality built, better specifications and cheaper prices, Xiaomi has gained a lot of attention. But unfortunately, more popularity brings more fakes and the present scenario is that there are more fake Xiaomi Power Banks in the market than there are legit ones. I myself purchased a 10400 mAh Mi Power Bank from China and although it looks similar to the genuine one, it is not. Listed below are the various tests which would help you in identifying a fake.

Differentiating between Genuine and Fake

Depending on the company manufacturing the fakes, there can be some cases where it works similarly to the genuine one, but it will surely fail most of the following tests.

Sticker with 20-digit Code on Packaging

This is the first and easiest step to check if the power bank is genuine. There would only be a very rare case where a fake Power Bank passes this test.

Genuine – Majority of the genuine Mi power banks sold in China come with a sticker on the packaging which can be scratched off to reveal a 20-digit code. Entering the code on the Xiaomi website would confirm the genuine product. However, the power banks sold outside of China via official channels will not carry this sticker.

Purchased from WS Retail seller on Flipkart? Your product packaging will not contain the 20-digit code. It is still genuine though as it passes remainder of the tests.
Mi power bank sticker unique code

Fake – Fake Power Bank will usually not include any such sticker on the packaging, confirming that it is fake. Even if it carries one, it would fail the genuinity test on the Xiaomi website.

Website to check the code – (in Chinese)

Branding and Color on USB Cable

Genuine – The MicroUSB cable included with genuine Mi Power Banks does NOT carry any Mi branding. If you see one with Mi printed on it, it is a fake. The genuine cable also has a black interior in the standard USB port.

Mi usb cable

Fake – Fake Power Banks usually ship with a MicroUSB Cable which has Mi printed on it. Many of us would take this as a sign of genuine product and apparently that’s what these fake sellers want to achieve by printing Mi on the USB cable. Fake ones also have a white interior of the standard USB port.

Pass-Through Charging

Genuine: The original Mi Power bank supports pass-through charging. What it means that the power bank will also charge a mobile phone connected to it while it itself is being charged. Only necessity is that the input charger must supply enough power and as such, charging via  a PC’s USB Port will not help.

Fake: The fake power bank does not have this capability and it will just charge itself and won’t pass on any current to the mobile phone connected to it. It will only charge the mobile when you disconnect the charger from the power bank.

Color of USB Ports on the Power Bank

GenuineThe front visible part of both the Micro USB and standard USB port have a rice white color.

usb ports mi bank

Fake Most of the fake power banks have a milk white color on the Standard USB port and a Black color on the Micro USB port.

Printing at the Bottom

Genuine Has a printing in greyish ink which is lighter and clear. It is also well textured which can be felt by moving the fingers over it.

Fake – Usually darker and blurry in black ink and sometimes unclear printing.

LED Lights Function when Using

Genuine – While charging, holding the power button will turn off all the LED lights and they light up when the button is released.
Fake – No effect on pressing the power button while charging.

Branding on the Standard USB Port

Update: The branding seems to be missing from the newer 16000mAh power banks, even though they are genuine.

GenuineGenuine power bank carries a small MI branding on the chassis of the standard USB port on the power bank. It is pretty small, but is easily visible while looking under natural lighting.

mi logo usb port

Fake – Fakes do not carry any such branding.
Thanks JR for this tip

Inbuilt Batteries

If you are still not able to determine the genunity, open up the power bank and check the inbuilt batteries:

Genuine – Branded batteries from international brands such as Samsung and LG.

Fake – Locally produced or counterfeit batteries which are generally of pink color.

NO 20800 mAh Power Bank

There are some sellers selling a Mi branded Power Bank with the capacity of 20800mAh. 16000mAh is the biggest that Xiaomi offers till date. So if you see a retailer from China or on eBay selling a Mi power bank of such capacity, you know it is a fake one.

Does your Mi power bank pass the tests above or it fails most of them? Let us know below.

Meet TARS: A Whatsapp Based Personal Assistant

Posted by Sabeer Nadir

Co-founded by Vinit Agarwal and Ish Jindal, Tars is an on demand service which uses Whatsapp to take users’ requests like Google search, making phone calls and reservations, read through reviews, compare prices, order a Pizza, call for a Plumber, Meaning of any word, etc. TARS, a startup based out of Bangalore, India has created a Whatsapp based personal assistant that will answer all your questions, as long as they are within it’s purview. It is a sort of artificial intelligence program which is partially based on the local agents to work. TARS personal assistant is available to you from 10 AM to 10 PM.

If you are curious of the name TARS – it is the name of a robot in hit Hollywood movie “Interstellar” who helps astronauts in their inter-galactic travels. The website claims, Tars is partially an artificial intelligence that operates with aids from local experts. WhatsApp has 70 million users in India. There seems to be a big opportunity of business for TARS in near future. Before this, Hike Messenger had also introduced a personal assistant in their app through which user could gather a lot of information about movies, Wikipedia, dictionary, Jokes and a lot of other entertainment things. But TARS is has real humans answering your questions and hence gives much useful results.

How Do You Use Tars?
The process is extremely user-friendly and time saving. All you have to do is, save 9900876785 to your contact and just send a ‘Hello TARS’ message through Whatsapp. Put forth your query and receive the response accordingly, quickly.

It will ask you the relevant information like your mail or address the first time it needs to serve you. After that, TARS knows and remembers who you are. The services are offered throughout the week from 10 AM to 10 PM.

Are its Services Chargeable?

Payment will depend on the kind of service demanded. For query like – “Which are the best dining places in any specific area? Tars would furnish a list of best known restaurants in that locality. Also, it would offer its own suggestions, based on its expertise. Chat services like this, are totally free.

If you want to book a train ticket or order for a product, the service would be chargeable. Tars will take care of the entire process except the transaction. For payment, it will send you a secured payment link powered by Instamojo where you can fill up the details. The booking would be made on your behalf. There won’t be any booking charges or additional/hidden charges, rather it adds relevant coupons too, if applicable.

Currently TARS’s database is updated with Bangalore city only but you can still use it if you live in different city. Agents of TARS use Google search to get the best results for you. It has only been a month that its services have been rolled out. Given the fact that it is a newbie in the market, its back-end services are still at their workshop stage.

5 Points Someone Learned As An Startup Entrepreneur

Posted by Namit Behl
Entrepreneurship, that too at start up stage is not about winning losing or being successful. It's just about sustaining. The feel of being a free bird is amazing. An entrepreneur is considered insane by 90% of the rest of world, including family and friends but this journey is something that everyone can't afford to have. Only a few lucky people get to experience this and this teaches you a lot.

Faith in your ideas and efforts, greed of success, fear of losing everything and a dream of reaching the top of this small world. I've been an entrepreneur from age of 16, and have learnt a lot by now.

I'm listing some 5 points that no one can ever understand without starting their own business. These 5 points will make you feel higher, promoted and different in a good way. I bet all the entrepreneurs are going to love this article.

1. It's not as easy as it seems

A non entrepreneur or a person who want to start but have never tried yet will still not agree to this point. You guys know it's hard to do, but trust me it's even harder then you are imaging right now. Entrepreneurship is demanding, even more than your girlfriend.

2. People shit good ideas every morning

Oh yeah?
You have an idea? ..  Superb !
You got funds too? .. Well in good !!
Brotha, you are done just 2% of it. The real 98% of execution, team building, revenue generation, sales increasing, client relationship and many more are yet to come. Even an intern of 2000 bucks per month can frustrate you to a level that you'll drop the idea of doing business.

3. Sometimes you even can't quit

You've already invested a lot of cash, time and efforts that you can't back step. Your clients are counting on you, your employees are counting on you.
At home you are just responsible for your parents, spouse and kids, but this is the place where all your team is your family.
Doesn't matter whether things are working out or not, you've to stand till the end of it. Quitting is not an option in cases.

4. No one will understand you

Why the hell they'll care? Even your parents, mentors and friends won't understand you. Your ideas are imaginary, your faith is limited to yourself. No one believes in you, they have their own life to take care of.
Only actions will speak.

5. The freedom is priceless

Saying or writing "mah lyf mah rulz" is not going to work, trust me. Living your life on your own terms and conditions is not easy, you've to work hard, you've to earn it.
An entrepreneur will deny working 8 hours a day for an MNC for 25,000 a month, but he'll work 18 hours a day for his own venture, that also for no money at all. No one can buy freedom of an entrepreneur for money, it's simply priceless.
